Job Opening

BIG HORN COUNTY IS SEEKING A PART TIME CORONERS ASSISTANT

The Big Horn County Coroner is seeking a motivated individual with a positive attitude for a part-time Coroner Operations Assistant position. The number of work hours per week will fluctuate dependent on facility usage. This position will be responsible for office operations as well as lab usage and cleaning. This unique opportunity requires an individual who is discreet, respectful, dependable and dedicated. This position will require unconventional evening and weekend hours as well as some regularly scheduled weekday hours for administrative duties. Strong communication and computer skills are required. A can do attitude and willingness to perform a wide variety of tasks are a must. Full Time Maintenance Position

Big Horn County has a job opening for a full – time maintenance person. Shift is from 5: 00 AM to 2:00 PM 5 days a week. Position includes full benefits – Health, Dental and Vision Insurance as well as Vacation, Sick Leave and Retirement. Big Horn County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Clerk of the District Court - Passports

PASSPORT SERVICES

Planning to travel abroad?  Plan to get your passport!  The Big Horn County Clerk of District Court's office is now a full-service Acceptance Facility with three full-time certified Acceptance Agents available to assist you with all your passport needs.  U.S. citizens planning international travel may apply for their passports and get thier passport photos taken at the District Court Clerk's office located at the Big Horn County Courthouse, 420 West C Street, 2nd floor, in Basin.

Application forms and information on how to apply may be picked up at any time during the clerk's regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.   The actual Passport Application process and photos are available by appointment only at the District Court Clerk's office Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.   Services are not always available on Tuesdays and Thursdays because of busy court schedules.  We ask that you please call our office in advance at 307-568-2381 to check for time and date availability to schedule your appointment.

Clerk of the District Court - Child Support

State Disbursement Unit:

Many court ordered payments for child support are now made to the State Disbursement Unit in Cheyenne.  Effective in May 1995, a centralized payment processing system was required by federal and state law.  However, the State of Wyoming received an exemption from the Department of Health and Human Services that still allows the Clerk of District Court’s office to receive and distribute child support payments.

The following types of cases can be processed by the State Disbursement Unit:

  1. All cases enforced by the Wyoming Child Support Enforcement Program
  2. All cases in which there is an income withholding order and the initial support order was issued on or after January 1, 1994.

Clerk of the District Court - Adoption

Adoption proceedings are confidential and upon adoption, all the records are sealed.  Wyoming law allows for the appointment of a confidential intermediary who has special training if, after the adoption records are sealed, an adult adoptee or an adoptee’s adoptive or biological parents request access to the court records to locate biological relatives or information regarding the biological parents’ medical or family history.  The contents of the adoption record may not be revealed to anyone other than the confidential intermediary and the information therein regarding identities may only be released by the confidential intermediary with permission from all parties with an interest in protecting their own identities.
